Editing of photos
I first used the quick selection tool to cut the model away from the background
Then using Refine edge i smoothed the edges over to remove all jagged edges for a professional look.

Then using the bucket tool I replaced the red top with bright yellow. so that it can coordinate for with the colour theme I have chosen for my front page.Primary research
- I decided to create a questionnaire to get a feel of what kind of people in my target audiences age bracket like in terms of music. With my genre of music being quite diverse, i knew that asking the template questions such as what king of music do you listen to, etc. would not be of use or give be reliable primary research. So i decided to ask closed questions such as:-
- Do you prefer to listen to your preferred music live or recorded?
- If their answer to this question is yes then i can fairly assume they would be possible target audiences because they prefer to listen to music in its purest form which is what my music promotes.
I am fully aware that i have a very small target audience due to the genre of music i have chosen, so to ensure that my magazine sells, my main aim will not be to sale my magazine to my initial small target audience but it will also educate whoever would like to know. I want to highlight this genre of music in a more interesting way by creating a magazine based on it, I hope it will not only create awareness but also show that there is more to it that meets the eye.
Here are the questions i asked:-
- OPEN
- Do you think the Price is reasonable? If no why?
- What is your general view about my magazine compared to other magazines in the market?
- What would you suggest I could do, to make the magazine better?
- CLOSED
- Do you prefer to listen to your music live or recorded?
- If you saw someone playing the drums using a bucket and pot on the street, would you stop and listen?
- Would you buy my magazine?
- Do you think the colours chosen appeal to both male and female?
- Are you familiar with the phrase street drumming?
To create my Survey I used a site called 'survey monkey'.
Survey monkey is the fast and efficient way of creating online surveys. It allows you to create a link to social networking sites in order to promote your survey and get as many results as possible.
In order for it to work well you will need a variety of open and closed questions. (open questions require more than a yes or no, closed questions only require a yes/ no).
Here are my results:
1. 20% recorded 80% live
2.80% yes 20% no
3.90% yes 10% no
4.100% yes
5.50%/50%

IMAGES USED
I used these two images for my feature page. Mainly because they look like ordinary snapshots. And the point of these images were to show Medulla Oblongata (the two ladies on either side) are in support of the main victim. I want to choose an image of one of the three models that consists of an interesting pose because it will be the first thing my viewer sees.
Here we have the two models Medulla and Oblongata. I decided to choose Medulla (on left) for my front page because of the interesting pose and composition of the shot. The advantages of this shot is she is resting on something which gives me the opportunity to add something else to the image like a drum or plastic bucket which is also used in Street drumming as a prop on the first page. This will then be more suitable for the magazine.
I can use this image for the contents page. The pose my model has chosen is very simple because of this it will be easier to work around her and include a wider variety of text sizes. and a funky composition. she is also leaning on something which gives me more editing opportunity.
Research and Planning
I decided to analyse Vibe magazine for ideas for my own. This front cover consists of many forms and conventions such as the title which as creatively been Incorporated with the main image of Beyonce (an RnB artist) in other words the anchorage of this magazine meaning the front page teaser. The letter covered is a B however the position that they have chosen to put Beyonce in allows the viewer to see enough of the letter to recognise what the title should be. In this instance the title also stands in place for the logo, being such consistent and recognised title people automatically link it to the organisation- Vibe. The masthead itself consists of the title and a line of artists which i believe represents the artists in which the magazine will be featuring. The advantage of this is that its the first thing the viewer or subscriber will look at, once they see the artists names as the target audience this will appeal to them and in turn persuade them to buy the magazine.
The designers of this magazine as used image bleed for the background of the front cover, meaning they have stretched the image of Beyonce to stretch along the whole front cover making the front cover look more professional and eye catching.
The cover-lines ( all other text on front page) work around Beyonce's body structure making her the main focus of the page. This makes everything work better on the page as they all sync together. The fact that the text isn't too far away from the image makes it harder for the information to be missed because the reader doesn't have to look to far away from the image which is the main persuasive technique used on this front page.
Another effect that works well on this page is the colour theme which is red black and white. They are all bold colours which complement one another. The text is large and the font used is bold and clear, which immediately grabs the readers attention. On the right of the page there is a cover line which is in a baige colour, although this doesn't fit into the visible colour theme it still works because it is a neutral colour. Being a neutral colour it is not distractive but is yet visible. The text also matches Beyonce's complexion. Which allows the cover-line to blend in with the others. A thin black frame has also been placed around that text so that it stand out a bit more it also implies that, that specific text is significant for one reason or the other. The text reads ' Download this: RAP BEEF 2.0'. being a download it makes the magazine more interactive and could be labled as this magazines 'Freebee' which is something the customer gets for free with the magazine.
CONTENTS PAGE
Vibe's contents page has the title contents in large font the word 'contents' has been broken into three sectors and layered in a staggered way this makes the page more dynamic and interesting.
Again the background image has been stretched over the page and we are introduced to vibes logo. Which is the outline of a V which has been incorporated in witht he background picture.
Vibe magazine doesn't only cater to music but a variety of things. The contents is split into those categories which is fashion, and the features which includes celebrity news as well as music news.
At the bottom of the page in small prints there is a caption for the background image labelling who is in the image and who took it.
The issue number is placed adjacent to the contents title in small prints. I believe this was done in order to keep the title the main focus as suppose to making both elements the same size. I believe size has categorised the level of importance in this magazine. Elements of the magazine which the publisher believes would increase sales of pubvlication are in bigger text where as smaller detail is in smaller print.
Looking at the three contents pages from this magazine I have oticed that the size of 'Contents' varies depending on the size of the ackgrond page so does the location of the title. From the left the first two have contents located on the left whereas on our right the title is placed on the right due to the nature of the product. However the font style and style of the page remains the same which keeps it in uniform and easy to identify as one comapanies media product
FEATURE PAGE
The colour scheme for this page revolves around the model who is wearing black. The colour is introduced by the sprinkles on the cake. They have selcted two of these colours which then makes the colours on the cake stand out. as simplistci as this is it works. which proves that one doesn't have to have feauture page full of colours. like the fornt cover they have decided to stick with three main colours. Which shows that they are consistent.
The text has also been placed aroung the model in a way that compliments his body structure which makes the image and page combine smoothly.
Ideas Development
My target audience are going to be young individuals from the age of 15-20. I decided to make my magazine unisex ( suitable for all genders) because I believe to music has no gender. I named my magazine 'Yuneek', having my magazine aimed at explorers- adventurous and creative individuals I believe that their main focus will be to stand out rather than striving to belong. My title has derived from the word 'unique', but i chose to spell i chose to spell it differently to express the definition of unique- being the only one of its kind; unequaled, unparalleled or unmatched.Different.
The genre of music my magazine will be catering to is ethnic raw music, raw meaning natural instead of technical (eg. studio produced). An example of this genre of music is 'street drumming' which is the act of drumming using everyday objects such as buckets and pots to emulate the familiar sounds we would connotate to a drum set. I decided on this specific genre of music because it is not popular and i believe people need to be educated on it. I also think it is different, which is what i want my magazine to promote, music out of the norm.
I'm hoping that the choice of spelling of unique will appeal to my target audience and grab their attention to do this I will have to ensure that the font i use is diverse such as Bauhaus which has an ethnic quality, using such fonts will make my magazine stand out from the majority which use uniform font such as Ariel.

Introduction
I have decided to create a magazine based on Street drumming. Street drumming is a style of Drumming in which people use everyday objects such as buckets tyres pots and pans to imitate the sounds you would usually here from a normal recognised drum-set. This style of drumming is usually referred to as creative, I believe this would be a good idea for a creative and adventurous target audience such as explorers. Another reason why I would like to create a magazine based on street drumming is because instrumentalists of this kind are not usually recognised and if they are it is usually stereotypically as a homeless group of individuals. As an individual i find the talent quite amazing and I would like to share it with everyone else. To create this magazine i will be using software's such as InDesign and PhotoShop to achieve a professional result.
WHEN WILL IT BE PUBLISHED?
My magazine will be published monthly due to the contents lack of popularity depending on how well it is received by the target audience this may be changed and published more frequently. Another reason why it will be published monthly is because of the quality of the magazine, being such an unpopular or unexposed theme the quality will need to be extremely impressive to keep it in the market.PRICE OF MAGAZINE
I have decided to also sell it at £2.50 because i do not have much competition in my chosen field.
